Ian Butler

Ian Butler began writing creatively in 2008 after suffering a stroke in England. Currently living with his partner in County Fermanagh, he has over twenty years experience in social work, including working with high risk adolescents. Previous to this he traveled extensively across Europe and The Americas.

Ian has had work published in the local Fermanagh papers, various professional journals and lately on the BBC website. In addition he was shortlisted for the prestigious Northern Ireland Screen’s Primetime Award and writes for the Alliance Party of Northern Ireland, mostly on the subjects of global warming and social issues. His first novel Burger Bar Dad was published as an e-book in 2012 with a print version due early 2013.

Interested in both fiction and non-fiction, Ian is also developing short stories, plays and screenplays.

Currently Vice Chair of the Fermanagh Creative Writing Group, Ian has been instrumental in helping it reach a prominent position in the cultural life of the County.
